What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@FortWorth, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxYouth@FortWorth event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
What is TEDxYouth@FortWorth?
TEDxYouth@FortWorth is the culmination of a year long journey to empower the Youth of Fort Worth, Texas. The main event will held on Saturday, November 12th, 2016, and is part of a global series of events held in honor of Universal Children’s Day (November 20), TEDxYouth@FortWorth invites young people from grades 5-12 to gather for a day of inspiring talks and conversation. Prior to the main event many youth will have the opportunity to attend a specialized TEDx Talk Training Session. Even the most amazing idea gets lost when not conveyed effectively. The TEDx@FortWorth Team wants every youth to have the tools to express themselves in the best possible light. TEDx Talk Training’s sole purpose is to make each Trainee discover the best of themselves. Unlike any other program each student is given months of one-on-one mentoring with experienced adult coaches as well as work as a team to diligently help them “find their voice.
Organized for teens under the leadership of TEDxYouth@FortWorth Advisory, this year’s conference has the theme of “YOUTH ideas (Fort) WORTH Sharing” and features speakers in their teens, who will share their stories of personal epiphany and of breaking through barriers. An anchor event for TEDxYouth@FortWorth, the conference will stream live to encourage the widest possible audience. Speakers will have the opportunity to network with one another during intervals that will encourage idea sharing through conversation, blogging, tweeting, and play.
